6/7/2012 VMCC Founders Rally

What a brill day! Started at 9.30. Met up with Andy & Louise. I rode Andy's AJ, Andy was on his BSA and Louise was on her Kwack.
Rode first to Quorn railway station where we meet fellow riders. Weather was great and as well as the bikes we were lucky enough to see 2 steam trains go through.
Next we rode up to Dot Museum in Burton for tea and cake whilst looking at what was parking up. High light was a 1913 Rover!!!
From there it was up to the Kingsley & Froghall Railway Station which is on the A52 Stoke Ashbourne Road. Then from there we headed for Derby. When we got to the turn off to Belper, Louise went straight on to the farm and me and Andy headed to Whatstandwell. Another highlight there was a 1924 Douglas! We watched as the chap started her up, a twist on this, a pump on that, one lever one way, another lever a different way and then kick.... and she was running!! Fantastic!
So then it was time (about 5.30) to head home, but taking the scenic route we headed to Marpool for a nice pint to finish the day!! Total of 130 miles. Like I said at the beginning, Brilliant day!!
